At the GroundFloor, we know that startups have their own special challenges. Not only are you breaking new ground with your innovative solution, you’re also working to establish your organization in the community. We support early-stage social ventures through our GroundFloor Startup Accelerator, a 9-month fellowship that helps social entrepreneurs lay a strong foundation for the future. In addition to the mentoring that is core to all of our investments, Startup Accelerator participants attend a workshop series designed to guide their ventures to financial sustainability and social impact targets.
Our Accelerator program provides Fellows with services and support valued at more than $6000.
The GroundFloor Startup Accelerator runs annually, October-June.
One-on-One Mentorship: Our mentors have experience in a variety of fields and are paired with Fellows based on need and expertise. Mentoring can range from providing an overall sounding board and your business develops, or more strategic problem solving in specific areas:
- Accounting: QuickBooks training, tax advice, ect
- Legal: Contracts, leases, corporate structure, trademarks, non-disclosure agreements, ect
- Financial: cash-flow analysis, financial modeling, business plan assessments, ect
- Marketing: website development, photography, public relations, logo and collateral design, ect
- Technical: programming, software development, ect
Peer Learning: GroundFloor Fellows navigate the Accelerator as a group and benefit by watching and learning from each other. An important component of the program is building a camaraderie with a group of like-minded entrepreneurs who can serve as support and resource in the future.
Education & Networking Events: GroundFloor events cover a variety of topics that are valuable to early-stage ventures. These topics can include: pitching, marketing, legal structure, social media strategy, accounting, and measuring impact. These events will be hosted in the community with partners like The Grove to introduce fellows to other companies working in the community.
Increased Visibility: The social capital of the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas helps to shine attention on GroundFloor Fellows through media coverage and participation in community-wide events.
GroundFloor Staff: We are here to help you reach your goals. After an initial assessment of your organization, we will work with you to establish short and long-term goals that we will work towards achieving during the 10-month program. We strive to provide accountability and to create forward momentum for our Fellows.
